Our impact
WSV brings talented, dedicated volunteers to a select group of local nonprofits, which depend on volunteerism to fulfill their missions.
We seek to create a virtuous cycle of involvement within our community of members. Our active members—those with ongoing relationships with a nonprofit organization—serve as a powerful recruitment mechanism for their respective causes. As our active members grow in number, they recruit new members to take up volunteering activities, who in turn become agents of further recruitment.
WSV's mission has a long-term component as well. As we increase the amount of volunteerism today, we increase the amount of philanthropy among successful executives—our members later in their careers—in the future. We think of WSV as creating lottery tickets for the nonprofit community. Down the road, some of these lottery tickets will pay off in the form of significant philanthropic activity by our members.
The final component of WSV's impact is the benefit that accrues to our members themselves. We believe that volunteering provides a sense of balance and satisfaction that is often difficult for busy professionals otherwise to maintain. Our experience continually proves this to be true.
WSV partner organizations
We aim to offer a variety of volunteer opportunities that will appeal to our member base. Our partner organizations have been chosen for quality of their programs, events, and staff, as well as for the appropriateness of their activities for busy young professionals.
We are proud to be associated with our partner organizations, which represent causes ranging from arts to homelessness to mentorship. WSV is constantly refining our portfolio of partners, with the needs and interests of our members in mind.
How you can be involved
Whoever you are and whatever your level of interest, there is a productive way for you to be involved with WSV. The first step is to register as a WSV member. As a member, you will receive our monthly newsletter, have full access to our opportunities, and be invited to our events.
If you support our mission but do not have time to commit to a volunteering activity, encourage your friends and colleagues to become WSV members and attend our events. Our members drive WSV's progress, and spreading the word to throughout your personal network can have an enormous positive impact on our organization.
If you are considering getting involved with a nonprofit organization, browse our carefully selected menu of opportunities. If you aren't ready to start right away (which is common), save the organizations that interest you to your short list.
Once you have begun volunteering with a WSV partner organization, be sure to indicate your association on your WSV profile. Your name and (if you choose) your contact information will then be displayed to other members who are interested in the organization. You will become a powerful recruitment agent for your chosen cause.
