English Language, American Life

50 W. 23rd St.
7th Floor
New York, NY  10010

Founded in 1961, The International Center in New York (ICNY) is a unique community where immigrants, refugees, students and other newcomers to the United States come to practice English and learn about American culture. Each year, we provide over 2,300 newcomers, from 85 different countries, with a wide range of language and cultural programs through our corps of 1,000 volunteers.

The Center is unique because it encourages volunteers to share both their personal and professional skills in a variety of ways. In January 2005, Time Out New York selected our organization as one of the 65 best places to volunteer in NYC.
